The art of Urushi, this traditional Japanese lacquer, has fascinated people for centuries with its refinement and durability. Made from the precious sap of the Urushi tree, harvested drop by drop with patience and expertise, it is used to enhance and protect exceptional objects. Its transformation requires meticulous skill: still liquid, it can cause irritation, and its hardening takes time. Yet, this artisanal technique, which requires no fire, embodies one of the most profound expressions of the connection between humankind and nature.

We are pleased to invite you to an exhibition dedicated to this centuries-old art, which will be held in our shop. from February 15th to March 15thThrough a selection of fascinating works, we will explore the many facets of Urushi: its history, its unique characteristics, and its promising future.
We also celebrate the artisans who perpetuate this heritage, particularly those from the city of Wajima, renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship. Today, these master lacquerers face unprecedented challenges, especially due to the natural disasters that have severely impacted their region. This exhibition is also a tribute to their resilience and passion.

🍶 On this occasion, we will be pleased to offer you a tasting of tea, sake, and mochi, in keeping with the refined spirit of Urushi. presentation of the exhibited works will immerse you in the world of this exceptional lacquer.
