Tea box / Kyoto SEIKADO "Kosanji"

Founded in 1838 on Teramachi Street in Kyoto, Seikado has been perpetuating exceptional craftsmanship for nearly 200 years. Initially specializing in pewter products, it is part of a long-standing artisanal tradition in the region. Today, Seikado, now run by the seventh generation, has expanded its expertise to include silver, copper, and iron works, offering a wide range of metal objects of unique and timeless quality.

This exceptionally airtight tea caddy, made of hand-decorated porcelain, is adorned with delicate motifs inspired by the famous Japanese satirical scroll " Chōjū-giga " depicts anthropomorphic animals in scenes full of movement and humor.
