Harvested in April in Kagoshima, the first green tea of spring, "Satsuma no Hashiri," expresses the freshness of the earliest shoots. After surviving the winter, the young leaves reveal a natural sweetness, a lovely vibrancy, and a delicate umami.
For the 2026 harvest, Kagoshima teas are distinguished by a more pronounced sweetness. The "Satsuma no Hashiri" reveals a softer texture, a rounder taste, and a delicately fragrant finish.
Its blend is based on the "Shigeru No. 2" cultivar, which brings depth and structure, complemented by Yutakamidori and Saemidori for their sweetness and finesse. To round out the umami and enrich the aromas, this tea undergoes a more pronounced final heating than our other teas.
Unlike our "Oo Hashiri," a single-origin tea from a single producer, "Satsuma no Hashiri" is a blend of several cultivars and producers from Kagoshima. The leaves, sourced from the same terroir, complement each other perfectly to offer a harmonious, bright, and refreshing tea, ideal for experiencing the vibrancy of Japanese spring.
