Porcelain cup / "Aokôchi Kusabana" Kyoto Tosaï
Cylindrical green Kiyomizu/Kyo-yaki ceramic tea cup with yellow flower pattern made by Maison Tosaï in Kyoto. Kôchi-yaki is one of the characteristic styles of Kyo / Kiyomizu-yaki pottery. This is an original cooking method that uses ingredients similar to those in colored glass to produce vibrant colors. It is only produced in Kyoto by ovens with special cooking techniques. In the middle of the Edo period, when kyo-yaki production began to expand, the Qing dynasty was at its peak on the Chinese mainland. The avant-garde foreign cultures that the Japanese admire are those of certain European countries and the dynasties of the Chinese mainland. Kyoto court nobles, Buddhist monks, scholars and tea masters, acquired various items brought by the trading ships of powerful merchants.
