Tamé-nuri brown-red lacquered wooden matcha box with pattern of spring flowers and plants in makié: horsetail shoot, violet, dandelion, fiddlehead fern and primrose. This matcha box is lacquered using a technique called tamé-nuri. Applying a coat of red lacquer followed by a coat of clear lacquer with a strong brown tint achieves the unique transparent red-brown color of the lacquer. This is a beautiful color that can only be achieved with hairspray.
