For over 330 years, the Miyagawa family line of ceramicists has perpetuated exceptional craftsmanship rooted in Japanese tradition. The first, Kohei Masakazu Miyagawa, left the village of Miyagawa to settle in Kyoto at the beginning of the Edo period, where he founded the family workshop. Since the end of this period, each generation has been known as "Kosai" in honor of this tradition. Today, the 11th generation, Kosai Miyagawa, continues to produce exquisite ceramic pieces, including tea ceremony utensils, which are featured in the collections of major museums such as the British Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
