Ball à matcha / Hourly Aka

Hōraku-yaki, a soft-touch ceramic once produced in a hidden village near Banshōji Temple in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, was made for over 130 years, from the late Edo period through the Taishō era, though its production has now ceased. The fourth master, Tōsuke (1813–1858), is famous for introducing a unique lacquering and maki-e technique on part of the piece, imitating wooden tools—an innovation that met with great success. His successors continued this tradition. The pieces bear seals such as "Rikei," "Hōhachi," "Tōsuke," or "Hōraku," although precisely identifying each generation of creator is often difficult.
