This bowl matcha is a creation of Ryoji Nakamura, a master ceramicist from Kyoto, specializing in Shimizu-yaki bowls. Shimizu-yaki is a refined Japanese ceramic that originated in the early Edo period (17th century) in the hills of Kyoto.

Adorned with the motif of the ancient pine, a tree long revered in Japan as a 'divine tree' bringing good omens, this bowl embodies longevity and prosperity. A symbol of vitality, the pine retains its green foliage even in winter, thus recalling the life force that inspires and amazes through the ages.
