Haru Sencha – A Delicate Early-Harvest Green Tea
This tea's smooth, nectar-like flavor comes from its early-harvested leaves, offering a refined and gentle taste.
With a light green color reminiscent of spring, this sencha is entirely free of bitterness. It could be described as well-balanced and refined, with softened edges and no harshness. While sencha is typically harvested around May 2nd, Haru Sencha is picked earlier, during the first half of April, when the young leaves are still tender and less exposed to sunlight.
Unlike Gyokuro, which is shaded to reduce tannins and enhance sweetness, this sencha develops its complexity naturally under the first spring light. This process gives it a depth of flavor akin to how grape ripening enriches fine wine, all while maintaining a remarkable softness.
