Hokuto Shimizu 
Né en 1957 à Kyoto, Akira Shimizu est un artisan de renom dans la tradition du Kyoto Kiyomizu-yaki. Diplômé de l’école de céramique de Kyoto, il s'est formé auprès du maître Kawabe Bisen avant de fonder son propre atelier en 1984. En 1995, il s’initie à la technique d’émaillage sur verre en autodidacte, et en 2006, il est reconnu comme artisan de l’artisanat traditionnel. Akira Shimizu continue de contribuer à la culture céramique en tant que vice-président de l’association des artisans de Kiyomizu-yaki et président de l'association de céramique Kyoto iro-e.
