TOSAI

Japanese tradition dictates that artists sign their works with a pseudonym rather than their family name. In 1917, the craftsman Tosai began creating pieces for art enthusiasts throughout Japan. His eldest son, the current Tosai, opened the first Tosai store in 1936 in the prestigious Ginza district.

After the war, the shop was rebuilt and continues to thrive, perpetuating the Kyoyaki ceramic tradition. Each piece is handcrafted by Kyoto artisans and decorated in the family workshop at the foot of Kiyomizu Temple. Tosai sincerely hopes that his creations will bring you as much pleasure as they experience in crafting them.
