Bo-Hojicha – Lightly Roasted Stem Tea with Cocoa Notes
Gently and slowly roasted, this tea develops a delicate cocoa-like note. Its transparent amber color reflects its smooth and mild flavor.
Bo-Hojicha, literally meaning "roasted twig tea," is made from young tea stems and leaf veins, after the tender parts have been used for sencha production. Due to its regional origin and lower recognition in Japan, it is often, unfairly, considered inferior to gyokuro and high-grade sencha.
However, this tea is crafted with great care. Jugetsudo’s Bo-Hojicha is made from the first-harvest stems, meticulously picked in Kakegawa, Shizuoka, Japan’s leading tea-producing region. These stems undergo a gentle roasting process, allowing their lightly smoky aroma to be enjoyed to the very core of each twig.
