If gyokuro is a tea that satisfies, the texture of Ensô, originating from Kyoto, may seem even more concentrated—almost like a light syrup. Thanks to its long, low-temperature infusion, this tea is significantly thicker than others. It has body and character.
Upon tasting, the first impression is one of great subtlety, immediately followed by a rich texture with a satisfying mouthfeel. The initial taste is smooth and sweet, leading to a long, silky finish. The umami is highly present and concentrated, yet never aggressive. It gradually unfolds, leaving an impression of refinement and elegance.
With the second infusion, the liquid becomes much lighter, losing its thickness while gaining clarity. Its refined green aroma expresses a soft, delicate flavor on the palate.
The word Ensô means "circular form," representing in Zen a perfect state of mind—neither excessive nor lacking. Experience a perfect moment with this gyokuro.
Preparation for three people:
In a small teapot, place 2 to 3g per person of gyokuro tea leaves. Pour in 60ml of boiled water cooled to 50°C and let it steep for 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Pour gently into cups, making sure to extract the last drop. You can adjust the amount of tea to your preference.
