Primeur Tea 2025 / Sencha Oohashiri / Loose tea 50g

Shincha tea is the freshest of teas. It's the tea from the first harvest. Our Oohashiri tea, from southwest Japan, is bursting with the Pacific spring sunshine. Hashiri means "running" in Japanese: imagine the farmers hurrying through the rows of tea bushes, grabbing as many of the new leaves as possible.

Tea buds begin to form in the fall, overwinter tightly closed, and open in late March and early April. The shoots have a very distinctive, sweet flavor because they contain a lot of theanine that survived the winter. Our early green tea is carefully prepared with these early shoots.

The "Oo Hashiri" tea leaves were harvested around mid-April 2024 in the Satsuma region (Kagoshima Prefecture) on the island of Kyushu (southern Japan). The very mild climate of this Satsuma region favors the development of sweetness in the tea leaves. "Oo Hashiri" tea is the first of the year and the fresh taste of the young leaves will be more pronounced in the mouth.

Oo Hashiri green tea is only available during the prime season. We only have 50 bags of Oo Hashiri green tea.
